PictureEvan's talking to himself again.
This post finds me at the end an exciting week at the lovely Jacksons Lane with amazing help from Kaveh, Chris, Hazel, Erica and Krystle.  Thank you all so much for coming in and being part of it.

Last night we performed as part of a work in progress showing of a new show called Lab Rat at Hatch Festival at The Little Angel Theatre

Loosely inspired by Flowers for Algernon we started the week with lots of found stuff, some of the puppets I have been making this year, some materials to knock up some new ones and lots of energy.

I had a lot of fun creating the work in progress and performing on Friday night.  It's quite a different style from other work I have been part of - but I have to say that I was really enjoying the dark comedy/tragedy line we began to walk.

The audience was very warm, giving us kind and generous feedback and you'll be please to know that we have plan to keep developing it - keep up to date with how we get on over on www.geniussweatshop.com

I'm also working on a short video of what we achieved in this short amount of time so watch this space!

I'm back hunting bears at the Little Angel.  So far I seem to have found these little blue children but not a bear - I have a sneaking suspicion that he will have shown up by the 11th May when the show opens though.

Lyndie asked me to carve a copy of one of her heads for the twins in styrofoam.  Mines the one on the left - getting there. I had a really good moment when I showed Lyndie the heads she didn't know which one was mine.

I've also been making some bits of bodies, hands, 2nd costumes.
Below is a little sneak peak at some of the finished puppets - no the bear didn't get the top one...he's got a special job. All in the magic of theatre.

I'm in Edinburgh with The Magician's Daughter this summer.

To keep with that theme and to have a go at making fabric and foam rod puppet I made a miniture of Caliban from the show.  He'll be walking the streets in search of an audience.

We're Going on a bear hunt R&D 2

Week two of The Little Angel Theatre's We're Going on a Bear Hunt.  The ideas for the set are flowing and we've got a forest.  On the final day sadly the lovely Lizzie was unwell - (Get better soon Lizzie) so I arrived to the plan that I would be stepping into the role for the day for puppetry with Barb Jungr doing the singing.  I was quite relieved they didn't ask me to do speedy song learning.

Excited to see the show grow and go on but watch out I think there might be a bear in there!

This week was spent assisting with the Research and Development (R&D) for The Little Angel Theatre's production of 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' by Micheal Rosen.

We spent 4 days making rough puppets of all the characters (Rod Puppets)
Next week: 5 days with puppeteers, actors, musicians, and Lyndie and Myself plotting through ideas and making choices about what is needed for the show.

Bear Hunt will be starting 11th May 2013 at The Little Angel Theatre then Touring - so be on the look out for it.  Making and rehearsals continue next February before it's finally ready for you all... what a beautiful day, we're not scared!!
